In 1960 MR MIKES started as a casual, affordable place for great steaks. In the past decade we’ve refined our approach and evolved our model, successfully targeting the casual dining sector, carving out a niche as the only unpretentious Steakhouse & Bar chain in the category. And today we are still about being a casual, affordable place for great steaks.
Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, MR MIKES became a pre-eminent brand in the food service industry. With the immense growth in casual dining and a renewed interest in beef, we made a strategic decision to evolve the concept. Senior management spent the next decade repositioning the restaurant from a successful cafeteria steakhouse model into its current position as a provider of exceptional quality steaks at affordable prices in a casual dining atmosphere. MR MIKES - the concept
Bob & Nick Constabaris were onto something way back in 1960 when they opened the first MR MIKES restaurant on Granville St. in Vancouver. And it's funny that relatively little has changed since that humble beginning (other than the fact that we no longer have a salad bar).
So, after 50 plus years, we've decided to celebrate what we are, stop comparing ourselves to what we aren't and to create an entirely new steakhouse category we can call our own.
SteakhouseCasual is about feeling like you belong, where everyone feels comfortable in his or her own way. It’s humble and modest and it’s your place - a place where you don’t have to be something you’re not, you can just be yourself. It means tasty and affordable creations from our signature steak and Mikeburgers to our home-branded wines and beers. It's about creating memories, uncontrollable laughs and the charm of warm service.
Staying true to our roots, we are embarking on revitalizing all our restaurants to create an atmosphere that is relaxed and genuine, and never contrived. We're leaving behind the tired décor of our past in place of memorable photos, warm wood grains, distressed metals and artwork that celebrates the essence of who we are.
At MR MIKES, we don't presume to be average or ordinary. We celebrate our uniqueness and the momentous events that contribute to our diversity. We chuckle in the face of political correctness and etiquette as we reminisce about that time, way back when...
MR MIKES MENU
Premium beef, minimum pretension.
For nearly 50 years beef has been the prime item on our menu. We find the finest, centre cut beef in Canada, age it until it’s absolutely tender. Then we add our special blend of spices and seasonings to the trimmed selection and carefully grill it to perfection over an open flame. Our world famous Mikeburger patty, also grilled over an open flame is served on a garlic toasted French loaf with Mike’s special succulent sauce and fries. Mr Mikes also has the usual offerings found in casual dining restaurants; including appetizers, salads, and a selection of other entrée’s. The relevance of steaks and Mikeburgers on the menu defines our steakhouse positioning while allowing customers to distinguish MR MIKES from other casual dining restaurants.

The Mr Mikes Steakhouse Casual Restaurant concept offers what many restaurants don’t - two different experiences under one roof. An unpretentious steakhouse for family, friends and business colleagues and a separate casual bar.
A unique bar concept that’s refreshingly casual and urbanely upbeat, is a great place to watch a game, enjoy on a date or just unwind with friends in casual, comfortable surroundings. We serve a tantalizing selection of tasty and creative martinis, quality wines including two distinctive house blends “Little Doe” and “ Big Bucks” and our own house brews “Antler Ale” and “Big Horn Lager”, brewed specially for us by our friends at the Okanagan Springs Brewery.
We’re down to earth, yet sophisticated. Natural woods, comfy furniture, great food, excellent beverages and fun people trained to keep it real, not trendy. Our bar concept has proven to be exceptionally popular and will play a greater role as we move forward.
