James Carter - STOR-X North Shore Franchisee

From running a marketing company to joining STOR-X James Carter knew a good opportunity when he saw one.

Two years ago, James was meeting STOR-X to help them with their online marketing strategy when the topic of franchising came up, "I had always thought they had a great business, and really felt that it was the right way to go and more importantly that it was something I wanted to be a part of." Now after just 8 months in operation James' business is profitable and growing steadily; "I just followed the system, and put some hard work in and by about 4 months we were profitable, had we financed our capital expenses, we would have been profitable day 1. What really gets me excited is to see the delight on customers' faces when we complete a job and do the reveal. None of them have cried yet, but it's been close. It has been very satisfying for me."

"I am a little different than many franchisees, I have been self employed for almost 14 years, but my business was successful but not scalable. It is nice to go to a franchise system because it really does give someone who is not sure if they can do it on their own a great opportunity. STOR-X's business system has allowed me to pursue my growth goals quite aggressively, so it's hardly like startup - their 20 years of experience are behind me at every step."

"I like to work hard, but it is nice to do something where I get to work with my hands, sometimes I'll do an install myself just to get away from the office". Now, James can reflect back and see how this opportunity completely changed his approach to life – ever since the days of College Pro Painters, "I really missed the amount of gratitude received for a job well done from a home owner, this has really made the job fun. On the business side, working with a great team at head office on all of my marketing initiatives and Wolf Nickel, the CEO on fine-tuning my operations has been incredibly rewarding".

What advice does James have for potential STOR-X franchisees? "If you know you have strong sales abilities you will succeed - quickly. If you are obsessive on service, your business will grow organically through referrals".
