Global Pet Foods Franchise Helps Homeless Animals.

Brett Wilson, former investor of Dragon's Den, Natural Balance and Global Pet Foods are joining forces for a greater good: helping homeless animals.

Starting January 31st and running through February 14th, Canadians visiting a Global Pet Foods store or its official website, globalpetfoods.com, can make a donation to the yearly "Show Us Your Heart" campaign. Each donation made inside a location will have its first dollar matched by Global Pet Foods, with all proceeds going to local pet groups and shelters.

According to Global Pet Foods President, Jim Walker, the money raised makes a huge difference to local community groups, who use the donations to cover food and medical care for homeless pets, and in some cases, just to stay open. Wilson, who has a poodle named "J. Cash," also spoke about the big part pets have played in his life, and noted that "Show Us Your Heart" is a great opportunity to help animals in need.

Pet owners can also participate in the yearly "Show Us Your Pet" contest, held by Global Pet Foods, by sharing a photo of themselves with their pet to win prizes. Visit Facebook.com/globalpetfoods for more contest information.

Started in 1976, Global Pet Foods is the biggest Canadian-owned pet specialty retailer, with over 160 locations across Canada. Its "Mind+Body+Soul+Spirit" approach to pet care has made it a force in the $4 billion to $5 billion Canadian pet industry. Global Pet Foods offers customers a wide range of pet products, from holistic food to grooming tools and bedding.

The pet industry in Canada is showing no signs of slowing down, as pet owners are spending more and more on their furry friends every year.
