Interview with Philip Stadnyk – President & CEO of The Water Clinic.
My name is Philip Stadnyk (President/CEO) of The Water Clinic. I was born and raised in Saskatoon and have lived here ever since. I have over 30 years experience in the water purification and marketing industry. I am continually asked to write articles for magazines which would include the technology and the marketing and selling of water purification systems.I feel very extremely confident on my research on technology but I feel that my expertise is really on the developing some very unique marketing concepts as I have always stated that marketing is the key to any successful business. My passion for this business is meeting and connecting with people and working with them to assist them in developing their business and as I love to see people become successful.
BeTheBoss - Tell us about The Water Clinic concept.
Philip Stadnyk - The Water Clinic is one of the largest and most recognized rural water purification companies in Canada. The Water Clinic has been in the water purification industry since 1983 and has a combined experience of over 100 years. We custom design and engineer the most advanced water purification systems for towns, villages, farms and acreages for the removal of iron, smell, bad taste, color, coliform bacteria, E-coli bacteria, hardness, sodium, sulphates, nitrates, arsenic, turbidity, manganese, trihalomethanes etc.
We have two divisions in our company where Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are our retail division and British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada is our wholesale division. Our retail division presently employs 22 full time sales representatives and 7 installers who are fully trained to provide onsite service.

BTB - How and when did you become involved with The Water Clinic?
PS - Our father was involved in awater treatment company about 40 years ago and that is where my brother Mike and myself got our start in this business which then led to us starting our own in 1983.
BTB - What was your background prior to joining The Water Clinic?
PS - When I graduated from school, I worked in the family business and for a few water purification firms which helped me gained considerable knowledge on the technical aspect and marketing of water purification systems.
BTB - What are some of the advantages in being a Distributor?
PS - Some of the advantages that our exclusive distributors have is that we offer a product that everyone uses around the globe along with ongoing marketing and technical support without any royalty fees.
BTB - Who is your ideal candidate?
PS - Our ideal exclusive distributors would be the ones that have the ability and motivation to expand their business along with exceptional customer service. In order to keep your customers satisfied, service is a definitely a key factor.
BTB - Tell us a little about the industry?
PS - The bottle water industry is becoming of the fastest growing industries throughout the world. The demand for purified bottled water is growing every single and the reason being is that the water quality throughout the entire world is decreasing daily.
BTB - What are some of the greatest lessons you’ve learned in growing this business?
PS - We are making it very easy for the exclusive distributor to become involved in this business as all of the work is completed by us which would include the initial marketing, follow up, onsite evaluation and of course the installation of the PUREAQUA machines. The only work for the exclusive distributor to do is to read a water meter once a month. I believe this is the greatest lesson we have learned in growing this business is to try to make this transition as easy as possible for our distributors to become involved in their own business.
BTB - Do you have a mentor or someone you use for inspiration?
PS - I guess it would have to be my father. He has owned many successful businesses and of course when you are self-employed, you simply have to have great work ethic in order to achieve success. My father’s work ethic and his ability to become very innovative have and always will inspire me
BTB - What advice do you have for someone looking to acquire a business?
PS - The best advice I can give is that when becoming involved in a franchise or a business opportunity is to find the right one where you can work smarter and not harder. Most of the franchises or business opportunities that are available to day require you work 10 – 12 hours a day and 6 -7 days per week which can be very stressful and demanding on the family. Most of the people that I know do not enjoy their present employment situation. I have stated before that 80% of the people do not enjoy their work meanwhile the other 20% love their job. If you do not look forward to get up every morning to go to work, I strongly suggest you find another job as life is simply too short and you must enjoy.
BTB - In your opinion, why do you think that The Water Clinic would be a great opportunity for someone.
PS - The advantage that we have is that we are in an industry that is a necessity to life and is growing at such a rapid rate worldwide. We offer an opportunity whereas the distributor does not have to quit their present job and only requires 1 – 2 days per month in order to earn up to $10,000.00 - $20,000.00 per month. Distributors can start their own business by purchasing only two machines where they can also be leased for as low as $350.00 per month.
