1. BeTheBoss.ca: Tell us about the Rydel concept.
Adel Jawhary: Rydel Roofing is a professionally structured residential roofing and exterior services franchise built for scalability. Our concept is centred around providing entrepreneurs with the systems, support, and infrastructure needed to operate high-performing home service businesses without starting from scratch.
Unlike traditional roofing companies that rely heavily on owner labour, Rydel is designed as a leadership-driven model. Franchisees focus on sales management, hiring, customer experience, and business growth while our centralized platform supports marketing, inbound call handling, estimating assistance, scheduling, accounting, payroll reporting, and operational coaching.
We also enable franchisees to expand beyond roofing into siding, windows, and exterior upgrades, allowing them to increase revenue per customer and build diversified service portfolios within their territories.

2. BeTheBoss.ca: How and when did you become involved with Rydel?
Adel Jawhary: Rydel Roofing was founded after identifying consistent challenges in the construction industry: strong demand paired with poor business systems. Many operators were skilled tradespeople but lacked marketing, management structure, and scalability.
Along with Ryan Crouse, the co-founder, we launched the business in 2012 while still in university. We grew the business exclusively in the National Capital region as one location while developing business systems to allow for expansion. Our goal was to create a platform that combined proven construction processes with modern business infrastructure.
In 2021 we launched a franchise model where we’ve focused heavily on developing strong onboarding programs, centralized support departments, and repeatable systems that allow franchise owners to grow faster and more predictably.

3. BeTheBoss.ca: What was your background prior to joining Rydel?
Adel Jawhary: Before founding Rydel Roofing, I built a background that combined engineering, leadership, and entrepreneurship. I launched Rydel in 2012 while still completing my mechanical engineering degree. Prior to that, I operated a student painting business for two years with Student Works Painting while in university, where I gained hands-on experience in sales, hiring, production management, and customer service.
I also served five years in the military, which shaped my leadership approach through structure, accountability, and resilience. These combined experiences allowed me to design scalable business processes and performance standards that later became the foundation of Rydel’s national franchise platform.

4. BeTheBoss.ca: What are some of the advantages in being a Rydel franchisee or Master Franchisee?
Adel Jawhary: Rydel franchisees gain access to a full operational platform, including:
? Centralized digital marketing and lead generation
? Dedicated call centre handling inbound inquiries and booking appointments
? Estimating team
? Preferred vendor pricing and supply chain leverage
? National brand recognition
? Structured onboarding and training programs
? Ongoing business coaching and operational support
? Accounting systems, payroll reporting, and financial performance tracking
? National partnerships with global corporations
This allows franchisees to focus on leadership and growth rather than trying to build infrastructure independently.

5. BeTheBoss.ca: Tell us a little about the roofing Market?
Adel Jawhary: Residential roofing is one of the most stable segments in home services. Roofing is an essential service — when damage occurs or roofs reach end-of-life, homeowners must act. Demand is driven by weather events, insurance claims, aging housing inventory, and ongoing maintenance cycles.
Projects are typically high-ticket transactions, which creates strong revenue potential when combined with proper sales systems and operational efficiency. This makes roofing an attractive long-term business opportunity with consistent demand across Canadian markets.

6. BeTheBoss.ca: What are some of the greatest lessons you’ve learned in growing this franchise?
Adel Jawhary: One of the most important lessons has been that structured systems outperform individual effort. Franchisees who commit to the model, leverage centralized support, and follow proven processes consistently outperform those who attempt to operate independently.
Another key lesson is the importance of early training and momentum. Strong onboarding programs, hands-on training, and clear operational playbooks significantly improve early performance and long-term franchise stability. We now spend over a month training our first-year franchisees before they’re in the field.

7. BeTheBoss.ca: What advice do you have for someone looking to acquire a Rydel Franchise?
Adel Jawhary: Successful franchise owners are disciplined, coachable, and focused on building teams. Roofing experience is not required, but leadership ability and business mindset are critical. The business is challenging, lots of work, and not for everyone – it’s ultimately for someone who is incredibly keen in developing a solid business and building their future.
My advice is to treat franchise ownership as a long-term business investment. Focus on infrastructure, hiring the right people early, and fully utilizing the systems and support that Rydel provides. Owners who take this approach build stronger, more sustainable businesses.
8. BeTheBoss.ca: In your opinion, why do you think that Rydel would be a great opportunity?
Adel Jawhary: Rydel offers entrepreneurs entry into a high-demand industry with an established operating platform. Instead of navigating the risks of starting independently, franchisees gain access to proven systems, national branding, structured training, and ongoing operational support. The culture we have built from senior management to our franchisees is unparalleled.
For individuals seeking scalable ownership, equity growth, and long-term business stability, Rydel provides a clear pathway to professional construction business ownership in resilient residential markets.
