Focus on what you DO want

Instead of focusing on what you don’t want in your work life, it’s time to focus on what you DO want!

.

Take this chance and grab it by the horns.

Lately, we’ve been glued to news sources, anxious to know as much as we can about the current health situation and how we can get by in the short-term.  We’ve learned how to self-isolate, read about how to receive financial support in the coming months and stocked-up on the basics in our home.

.

Now what?

.

Suddenly, we find ourselves with time to think about where we are now, and even more importantly, where we want to be.  Where do you envision yourself in a year’s time, 2 years, 5 years and 10 years down the road?  Are you just starting out, mid-career or closing in on retirement?  Now is the time to leave behind what you’ve always felt that you HAD to do and think about what you REALLY WANT to do from now on.  What makes you happy and what fulfills you?  What do you need going forward?

.

.

For some, this will simply be earning more. That’s a good goal!  For others it could be a business that in addition to income, provides a service to society that will fulfill your desire to give back.  Fields such as education or health and wellness may be the right fit.  Others may want to make people happy with a business in family entertainment or resorts.  Still others may be looking for something to contribute, even on a part-time basis, during retirement.  The list is endless, and this is your chance to decide what’s truly important for you.

.

Envision yourself in business and think about who you want your customers to be…do they need your help due to an emergency and you’ll feel great about being there to provide just what they need?  Would you prefer to focus on making people happy?  Is your real drive independence, or maybe working out of doors surrounded by fresh air and nature?  Do you want to work with people, or do you yearn for working in the quiet of your own home?  Maybe you want to inspire others and be a health, spiritual or business leader.

.

Your personal goals are valid and there is no right or wrong answer.  Now that you have the chance, instead of ‘doing what you’ve always done’, this is your chance to start again – to determine what’s most important to you and act on that knowledge from now on.

.

The current situation has made us think in different ways.  It has made us realize that time is precious and that we should spend it doing what is valuable to us and fulfills us.  Look at what’s out there, determine what you really dream of and go forward.  Contact an opportunity that interests you, talk to them and decide if it’s the right fit.  If it is, great!  Move forward with them so that you’re prepared to launch into your new life as soon as economic improvement starts and financial incentives become available.  If your first attempt isn’t the right fit, then look again and keep the conversations going with other businesses that interest you until you find the one that fits your vision, goals needs and dreams.

.

You’ll know when you’ve found it!
