It's been a red-letter streak for 24-hour gym Anytime Fitness Coquitlam. The Tri-City Chamber of Commerce has nominated the gym franchise location for its “Business Excellence” award, and “Entrepreneur” magazine recently named the franchise the No.1 Fitness Chain in the World.
The company's excitement at the nomination honor was evident in a statement from location owner Nick Johnson, who owns Anytime Fitness Coquitlam and another location in Port Coquitlam with his wife Jen. According to Johnson, Anytime Fitness gyms are the next level of fitness, offering members the ultimate and most convenient gym experience. Gym members receive 24-hour access to the facility and also have access to personal trainers, classes, social meetings and high-end equipment each day of the year. As noted by Johnson, all this is available to members for less than what it costs for a cup of coffee per day on average.
With the Anytime Fitness Coquitlam location being such a success for the Johnsons, the couple opened another one in Port Coquitlam, with a record number of members joining in the first week. The future looks bright so far for the second location, as member reviews on the Internet are already coming in and glowing.
Johnson explained a bit more about how the gym works. The Tri-Cities area is now able to access two different Anytime Fitness gyms with just one membership in addition to 15 other locations locally and over 2,500 globally. Only a limited number of people are allowed to join to prevent the overcrowding found in other gyms in the area. The Port Coquitlam location will be holding a promotion in December for its opening month, but only the first 25 new members are eligible.
The Anytime Fitness Experience
Anytime Fitness gym locations remain accessible all year round to members, with a personal security key available for entry during times the gym is not staffed. Security measures include surveillance cameras and security systems. Members have access to state-of-the-art gym equipment, and thanks to membership reciprocity, can also visit gyms in Vancouver, other parts of Canada, Australia and the United States.
Founded in 2002, the Anytime Fitness franchise has experienced steady growth and a stream of industry accolades. There are currently over 2,500 locations in 12 countries, including Canada, serving nearly 1 million members. The franchise offers full training and ongoing support to its members and uses an exclusive territory system. Location owners may be involved in the gym day-to-day or oversee operations on a less-involved basis, a decision left to the incoming franchisee.
With an increased emphasis on health, exercise and fitness worldwide, the demand for a gym that meets the needs and schedules of its members is only sure to grow. Many people consider gym memberships a necessity, as they are key to optimal health and fitness. Most purchase and maintain their memberships even during rough economic times.
