Award-winning franchise brings healthier pizza to South Delta

Polly Sidhu is no stranger to introducing new concepts in South Delta.

In 1998 she and her family brought Quizno's Subs to Ladner. Due to her passion and commitment to guest service and quality, customers welcomed the business with open arms. After selling the sub restaurant Sidhu was anxious to bring another alternative to the area. Her latest move? Introducing Freshslice Pizza to Ladner and Tsawwassen.

Since opening the Ladner location last July and the Tsawwassen location this April, business has "been very good," she says. Sidhu credits using healthier multigrain dough and reasonable prices as a couple of the reasons for the success so far. She owns and operates the two South Delta locations (the Ladner restaurant was awarded a Franchise of the Year 2010 honour) with her dad T.D., sister Reena and boys Sunny and Hardeep.

Freshslice was founded by Ray Russell in 1999 in Vancouver. The chain had over 40 locations as of last year and is "growing fast." Russell's vision was to combine pizza by the slice and pizza delivery as well as making sure that the pizza was healthy and always fresh.

Freshslice was awarded the Consumers' Choice Award for Business Excellence in 2007, 2008 and 2009. "We are very proud of this award and we wish to continue serving our customers the very best delicious, fresh and value oriented pizza and food products possible," the company's website states.

Freshslice is located at 5207 Ladner Trunk Road in Ladner and at 1189-56th Street in Tsawwassen.
