Interview with David Pothier - President of Canadian Residential Inspection Services

David Pothier: Canadian Residential answers a demand in the industry for effective, high-quality inspection services for homebuyers throughout Canada. We’ve been supplying unbiased home inspections to the public for 31 years and we are growing! When looking at the real estate industry we recognized how vulnerable the public was when purchasing a home. We’ve built a company that educates the buying public so they can make informed decisions, and we do everything in our power to ensure the success of our franchisees.

BTB: Tells about the Canadian Residential Inspection Services name.

DP: We are proud to be a Canadian owned and operated company and so are our Franchisees!

BTB: What are some of the advantages in being a Canadian Residential Inspection Services franchise?

DP: Our Franchisees are in business for themselves but not by themselves. We are there every step of the way. Our reporting system is second to none in the industry. It has been an integral part of our success. Our report is the most user-friendly, comprehensive system in the industry and it is one of the reasons we get so many repeat customers. Our franchisees truly feel like they are part of a network, because there is a team of experts who have a vested interest in their success. Honest feedback and advice is priceless!

BTB: What about your training?

DP: We are constantly evaluating our training and our Franchisees preparedness to enter the industry. We have found that our Franchisees are some of the best qualified and trained home inspectors in the field. We offer academic and practical training that is based on solid, proven training techniques and applications. When the National Certification Authority for Canadian Home Inspectors was first established, we were the only training provider in Canada accredited with all of the required hours for both the academic and the practical. We keep re-evaluating our approach to make sure we stay current and effective!

BTB: Tell us about the Home Inspection Market.

DP: There has never been a better time to own a home inspection franchise! Every home that changes hands is a potential customer. The business potential is there with more than 90 per cent of all North American home sales now including a home inspection. Those are your customers!
