Dustin and Betsy Tino, a husband-and-wife franchise team, recently opened their new Minuteman Press franchise business in the Five Lakes Mall in Fairmont, Minnesota. Both are from Fairmont, graduating from the local high school together in 2002, and welcomed the opportunity to return home and run their own marketing, printing, design and promotional items business together.

According to Betsy, the couple is thrilled to come back to Fairmont and provide a complete suite of services to local businesses and organizations. She noted that customers will be working directly with her and her husband, the owners, and that they take great pride in providing top-notch customer experiences.

Returning home has already been a success, said Dustin. The community has been very supportive and has provided positive feedback already, and the couple is also going to be involved in the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce. The pair grew up in the Fairmont area, and they are now able to be a part of the very same local organizations and clubs that supported them as they grew up.

Once the Tinos graduated from high school, they both went to college and embarked on separate careers. Dustin was an athletic trainer for a decade and then worked in an orthopedic clinic. Betsy worked as a graphic designer, providing work for a national home improvement magazine and a newspaper. She also spearheaded a re-branding campaign for a university. Before buying her own franchise, she worked in a commercial print store, advancing from a sales representative to a project manager. It was at this job that she discovered her love for the printing industry, which led her to Minuteman Press.

The path to Minuteman

Around three years ago, the Tinos decided they wanted to start their own business and work together. Naturally, they began to research what type of business they wanted to own. They were also looking for more customer-service-oriented franchise opportunities, having both grown frustrated with the direction their current employers were taking in that area. After some research, they found Minuteman Press to be the company they were looking for. This also brought the family full circle, as both of their parents owned small businesses in Fairmont and were able to provide the couple with valuable insight and advice.

Minuteman has provided the Tinos with support at the local and corporate level. Betsy said the couple is truly enjoying being a part of the company's family and that the printing franchise has been with the couple every step of the way. The Tinos went to New York for two weeks of training that exceeded all of their expectations, covering both the printing industry and how to run a franchise location. When the couple came back to Fairmont to set up their new location, the franchiser also sent a field support representative to assist them for two weeks.
