Baskin Robbins Franchise in Canada Hosts 31 Cent Scoop Night

Date: APR 2nd, 2009

Topic: Franchise News

(April 2009) Save the date: April 29th is 31 Cent Scoop Night at all Baskin Robbins across Canada!  Local firefighters are teaming up with Baskin Robbins stores across the country to raise money to build a national memorial.  From 5-10pm a Junior Scoop of any flavour in the store or the new Soft Serve cone will cost only 31 cents.  This is a great chance to get out with friends and family and enjoy spring in your community with firefighters taking part in the celebration.  While enjoying your favourite ice cream explore the fire truck and chat with firefighters about the role they play in Canada and their hopes for an Ottawa monument.*

The Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation is raising funds to build the only permanent, national memorial to firefighters who have died in the line of duty. Baskin Robbins is helping them make this happen.  In addition to a $10,000 donation to CFFF, Baskin Robbins invites the public to make donations that night in the stores.

“Baskin Robbins is proud to host 31 Cent Scoop Night and is honoured to play this part in helping Canadian firefighters build an important monument”, Gene Swinton, Baskin Robbins Canada.

Even though provincial and municipal groups have paid homage to firefighters who have died in the line of duty, there has never been an organized national venue to honour Canadian fallen firefighters.

“Although other Canadian service groups have been recognized nationally, the nearly 1000 Canadian firefighters killed in the line of duty serving their communities have not," said President Robert Kirkpatrick, CFFF. "The Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation is pleased to be part of this event by Baskin Robbins Canada to help make the dream of the Canadian Firefighters Memorial a reality. Let's make sure those who make the supreme sacrifice are never forgotten."

The Foundation is meant to serve all firefighters: volunteer, full-time, industrial, military, urban, rural, wildland, Aboriginal, airport and marine.  The Foundation’s objectives include not only the building of the monument in Ottawa, and conducting the annual ceremony, but hope to provide educational scholarships for the children of fallen firefighters.
